CAPITOL HILL

At the heart of Seattle lies Capitol Hill, with distinctive turn-of-the-century bungalows and classic apartments. Long a counterculture oasis, there are probably more nose rings on Capitol Hill than anywhere else in the Northwest. Broadway - dotted with atmospheric eateries and pubs - is the neighborhood's main strip. South of Broadway is the hip Pike/Pine Corridor, a nightlife hotspot of all-night coffeehouses, live-music clubs and rowdy, smoke-filled bars. If you're looking for late night action, this is one of Seattle's most lively scenes.

Volunteer Park (pictured on the left) is the home of the Seattle Asian Art Museum, a conservatory, and a beautiful view of the city which is enhanced if you can make the climb up the 108 steps of the old water tower.
